NU-subdB

NU-subdB (Northwestern University Subject Database) is a web based application for collecting case history information from experiment subjects. Subjects fill out a web based form that contains question related to the subject's language background, demographics, medical history and so on.

Access to identifiable information for each individual subject is limited to top level administrators only. Experimenters and researchers only have access to data that has been de-identified.

NU-subdb version 2.2 will be released Spring quarter, 2012
New features include online consent forms for most experiments, additional data and mutually exclusive experiments:

  1. Online Consent Forms
    • For most experiments, online consent forms will now be used instead of paper consent forms
    • The experiments list includes an additional column that indicates the experiment type (Perception, Production or Wellformedness)
    • If the consent forms for the experiment is missing, a blue question mark icon is displayed next to the experiment. Similaraly, an experiment with an expired consent form is tagged with a red exclamation mark.
    • The summary panel displays the consent form that is tied to the selected experiment.
    • When running a new subject, you will be asked to first enter in a subject code
    • The online consent form will then be displayed on the next three screens. Your subject should read these pages and then decide to either accept or decline consent on the third page
    • If you are running a production experiment, your subject should also indicate if he/she is willing to make their recordings public by selected the appropriate checkbox on the third page
  2. Additional Data

The Additional Data button presents you with a panel with custom fields which allows you to store results from your experiment. Textinput and numeric input fields are currently supported. Please contact c-ch ... @northwestern.edu for more details.

  3. Mutually exclusive experiments

Each experiment can be set up to exclude subjects if they have taken part in other experiments in NU-subdb. Please contact c-ch ... @northwestern.edu if you wish to set up an experiment with this exclusion criteria.

Please contact c-ch ... @northwestern.edu if you require a new NU-subdB account (username and password).
