The Department of Linguistics maintains several labs for researchers to conduct experiments. These are located in Cresap Laboratory and Swift Hall . Lab equipment includes sound booths, audio and video recording equipment and experiment running software.

These lab spaces provide us with the ability to run linguistics experiments on human participants in a low noise and controlled environment. Results from these experiments contribute to various areas of research including speech recognition, second language learning, speech perception and multiple language interaction among speakers of varying language backgrounds.
